James Smith

James has been associated with the Firm since 2006 having joined initially on a part time basis whilst studying Law at Wolverhampton University. He qualified as a solicitor in April 2010.

James has experience in Matrimonial Law, Family Law, Children Law and Mental Health Law in addition to will drafting.

Family Law matters have included dealing with domestic violence issues, where a swift and efficient yet sensitive approach is essential.

The primary focus of James' experience within Children Law matters is on contact and residence issues. Again, such matters are extremely sensitive and will necessitate an approach to deal with them in a non-inflammatory manner. James has dealt with contact applications, residence applications and special guardianship.

James has also worked in care proceedings assisting clients.

A significant proportion of James' experience has been in assisting clients in the area of Mental Health Law. Where clients have been subject to detention in hospital under the Mental Health Act. James has dealt with matters under both the criminal and civil sections of the Mental Health Act.
